Mall Cop Filming Locations
Mall Cop manufacturing began in Boston in February 2008 and ran until mid-April of the same year for Mall decorating. You’ll be surprised to learn that the film was denied by Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, New Jersey. Following that, most of the filming occurred at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Massachusetts. The aerial stunts in the film, such as when Simms attempted to rob the Mall, and Blart was attacked in the elevator, were all shot in the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts. The set was constructed around the Mall, which features a Santa Village.

In late February 2008, production began in Boston. After Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, New Jersey rejected a permit, principal photography occurred at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Massachusetts. The mall was decorated with Christmas decorations from late February to mid-April, and there was a large prop ball-pit in the main foyer of the mall near the Sears branch, as well as a Santa’s Village at the opposite end near the Macy’s department, where the mall puts its Santa’s Village. The majority of the interior filming took place at night. Some aerial feats, such as Blart being attacked in the scenic elevator, were carried out at Braintree’s South Shore Plaza.
