She ended the post: “I’ll love you till the end of time.”

Before being casted as a doctor on Days of Our Lives, Aniston played small roles in two other daytime serials. He then went back to Days of Our Lives in 1985 and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2017.

“Soap operas are the perfect level of recognition, satisfying your ego without disrupting your life,” he said in a great 2018 interview with Adrienne Faillace for The Interviews TV Academy website. “Whereas some people, my daughter being one of them, can’t go anywhere.”

“The character was originally supposed to be a smooth ladies’ man, like Marcello Mastroianni,” he explained. His charming demeanour wasn’t what the producers were looking for though- they wanted someone who Mary couldn’t potentially fall in love with. He realized that Knight would be perfect once he saw the show.

Yiannis Anastasakis was the fourth child out of four, born on July 24th, 1933 in Chania located on the Greek island of Crete. His father, Antonios had been travelling between Greece and America before finally deciding to leave his home country for good in 1935. He then moved the family over to Chester, Pennsylvania where he opened up a restaurant business.

After graduating from Penn State University with a degree in arts and letters, Aniston began acting in plays and did two seasons of stock at the Allenberry Playhouse. He then served in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer based in Panama before moving to New York. In 1959, he landed a guest spot on the CBS cop show Brenner starring Edward Binns. This led to him being cast as a Native American chief named Brown Bear for 14 months straight in the comic off-Broadway musical Little Mary Sunshine, which starred Eileen Brennan.

Aniston lost out on a part to Bill Hayes but ended up playing Eric Richards, a prison doctor. After being thwarted in a bid to go medical school in Greece, he returned to acting and spent three years as Edouard “Eddie” Aleata on Love of Life before six years as philandering Martin Tourneur Search for Tomorrow. His daughter appeared on that soap as an extra when she was younger.

Al Pacino recalled telling Jennifer Lawrence not to go into show business because it “stinks.” He says that he tells everyone who wants to be an actor the same thing, but he knew from the beginning that Lawrence would be a success. This is because she always got called back for auditions.

What appealed to Aniston about portraying the Greek crime boss Victor in Salem was that “you could punish your enemies and reward your friends. What’s not to like?” His character was married five times, spent a year and a half in a coma, once killed off but then found alive again on the island of Melaswen (which is new Salem spelled backward).

Fans of Friends know that, in a second-season storyline, Joey Tribbiani (played by Jennifer’s castmate Matt LeBlanc) gets a job on Days of Our Lives. However, his character Dr. Drake Ramoray is killed off after falling down an elevator shaft.

Aniston was married to late actress Nancy Dow (Jennifer’s mother) from 1965 until their 1981 divorce and to actress Sherry Rooney since June 1984. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his son Alexander.

Acting, as Aniston explained in his interview with the TV Academy Foundation, is more fun than working a typical 9-5 job. He specifically enjoys theater because he feels like he has control over the audience.
