Are Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’ Characteristics Relatable To Our Lives?

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam in Warner Bros. Pictures’ new film.

  • Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” will show fans the antihero in a new light.
  • Before the bigger threat arrives, he faces off with the Justice Society and Intergang.

Dwayne Johnson stars in “Black Adam” as Teth-Adam, a man who must balance protecting his country from Intergang with processing the death of his family. Though set in the present day, much of “Black Adam” is focused on flashbacks to Teth-Adam’s life before he was turned into a superhero.

“Black Adam” not only provides a few surprises for fans of the DCEU, but also teases what’s to come with cameos and an intriguing mid-credits scene. Even so, the film leaves audiences wondering where antihero Black Adam will pop up next and who his arch nemesis might be.

The DCEU’s Eternium is a rare metal/mineral that bad guys want to get their hands on. It is found underneath Kahndaq and has been mined by slaves for thousands of years. In the present day, Intergang also mines for it.

Eternium is an ore with magical properties that can harm Black Adam. It’s not as strong as Kryptonite is against Superman, but Eternium can still cut him. In the comics, Eternium comes from the leftovers of the Rock of Eternity after it was demolished by Dr. Sivana.

“Black Adam” seems to be disregarding the idea that the Rock of Eternity hasn’t been destroyed in the DCEU and it has already appeared in “Shazam!” Even so, Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) might come back to cause Billy Batson more problems in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”

Eternium is a powerful metal that can be forged into magical artifacts, like Adrianna Tomasz’s (Sarah Shahi) necklace, or the Crown of Sabacc.

The Crown of Sabacc is a key focus in the story, and making sure Ishmael Gregor (Marwan Kenzari) doesn’t obtain it is critical. He’s the last surviving descendant of King Anh-Kot, and if he gets his hands on the crown, he’ll be able to call forth the demon Sabacc as per his ancestor’s wishes.

While Black Adam and Shazam are two sides of the same coin, Sabacc represents their darker nature. The demon’s name alludes to Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub,, Asmodeus:,and Crateis—the six lords  of hell—and possesses all their power combined.

The Sabbac character has evolved a lot since he first appeared in 1943. He was originally conjured by Timothy Karnes, who wanted to possess Shazam’s abilities for himself. So, he made a deal with the forces of evil and transformed into a big, green-robed creature with large teeth. Later on, though, he took on the form of a red horned demon in “Black Adam.”

The look referred to Ishmael Gregor, a mob boss who was introduced in “Outsiders” #8. The 2022 movie reimagines him as the head of Intergang. Although Black Adam literally rips Sabbac and Ishmael in half at the end of the film, it’s not impossible that Sabbac could return–Ishmael was only granted the powers of hell lords, so it stands to reason that Sabbac didn’t give all his power away.

Who are all those villains that Amanda Waller has locked up?

A part of the film includes Black Adam willingly giving himself to Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) so that they can lock him away in their cold containment facility. He does this because he doesn’t want to lose control over his powers, though it only lasts for a few hours. Later on in the movie, he breaks free from where he was being held captive in order to fight Sabbac during the climax of the film.

Waller has hundreds of other containments pods surrounding Black Adam, including ones that are two or three times the size of an average human. This means Waller has plenty of other weapons she could use at any given moment. But who are they? The best bet is potential recruits for the Suicide Squad, though Waller typically pulls inmates from Belle Reve for her team. These prisoners look like they’re too dangerous to be out running military missions.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn is developing a new movie that could expand the possibilities of the DC Universe. Many viewers were pleased with the film’s mid-credits scene, but an important question still remains: will Black Adam fight Zachary Levi’s Shazam?

These characters are associated with each other because they both receive their powers from the wizards of Rock of Eternity.

Djimon Hounsou’s Shazam makes a few quick cameos in the film as he bestows his powers on Teth-Adam’s son, Hurut (Jalon Christian), before the young boy later transfers them to his father.

This all taking place in present day leads one to speculate if at some point down the line these two will come into conflict with each other. Although Johnson has been focused on Superman up until now, it looks like this could be leading towards a showdown between Billy Batson and Teth-Adam.

Amanda Waller sends the Man of Steel to go speak with Black Adam in order to quell the situation down. In the scene, it is evident that Kahndaq’s protector isn’t afraid of anyone on Earth or any other planet. Although Superman and Black Adam don’t engage in a physical altercation, Superman says “we should talk,” which alludes to them coming to a resolution at some point soon. enthusiasts have been waiting for Warner Bros. bring Henry Cavill back into the DCEU fold for quite some time now – they wouldn’t have brought him back onboard if they weren’t intending on utilizing his talents fully.

An upcoming article from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that a Superman sequel is currently in development, with producer Charles Roven attached. However, no writer has been confirmed for the project yet. Dwayne Johnson has repeatedly expressed his desire to see Black Adam face off against Superman on the big screen, so it’s really just a matter of which movie gets greenlit first.

Now that Cavill is back in the red boots, Warner Bros. can give him cameo appearances in other upcoming releases like “The Flash,” “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” or even “Blue Beetle.” Don’t forget, though, that Black Adam is already in theaters now.
